Derived from Kubler-Ross's 1969 book "On Death and Dying". This model described her work with terminally ill patients and the different psychological stages that they went through in coming to terms with their condition.
We are suggesting that some people go through a similar process when faced with change, and that people will travel along the curve at different speeds. Some people may even get "stuck" at the depression stage, or we can refer to the bottom of the curve as the "valley of doom", and people get stuck here. Sometimes, as a coach, we need to help people move out of their own personal "valley of doom".
